Fiskerton Curriculum Intent
School Vision
Flourishing together within the love of God.
As an inclusive and caring church school, we provide an excellent education and develop a life-long love of learning. We see all members of our school family as valued and valuable in the eyes of God, and we support and challenge everyone to achieve their full potential.
“I come to bring life in all its fullness.”
(John 10:10)
How is our Curriculum organised?
Fiskerton CE Primary School delivers an inclusive, engaging, relevant and challenging curriculum for all our learners. We deliver the National Curriculum as a minimum, with an emphasis on children flourishing across all areas through a sequential learning journey. We have organised our curriculum and expect the children to leave at the end of KS2 working at the Age Related Expectations (ARE) in all subjects within the National Curriculum.

What is our intent?
Our curriculum is driven by our vision: “Flourishing together within the love of God”. Our curriculum is driven by the core principles of
-
Ambition – for all pupils to remember more and know more, becoming life-long learners
-
Values based approach – both Christian and British
-
Inclusive to all, supporting and challenging all to flourish
-
Pupils as leaders – preparing children to become active citizens
-
Wider opportunities – range of experiences and opportunities both within school, local community and beyond
-
Celebrating success – a culture of encouragement, motivation and positivity
How is our Curriculum implemented?
At Fiskerton, we have an intended curriculum which incorporates the statutory programmes of the National Curriculum to ensure progression of knowledge – both substantive and disciplinary.

Our curriculum is planned in the following ways:
-
Long term plans: the over-arching linked learning for each group and in each subject
-
Medium term plans: a unit of work that is usually taught over a term
-

What’s it like to live in….. |
Subject specific learning throughout school is designed to develop in a sequenced and progressive way. This enables pupils to develop new learning, retrieve prior knowledge and develop a breadth of knowledge across the range of NC subjects. The core principles are reinforced in all areas of school life through carefully planned opportunities and a culture of flourishing for all.
Impact
Pupils have developed secure knowledge across the curriculum. They are knowing more and remembering more through effective retrieval practice.
By the end of each phase of learning, outcomes will show:
-
Ambition - Children are able to recall knowledge and make links in their learning, showing a strong enjoyment in learning, striving to become a lifelong learner.
-
Values – Children display our school values, being a good neighbour, serving others and fulfilling their gifts. They will be prepared for life in the modern world. Pupils develop as resilient, well rounded individuals who care for themselves, others and the wider world.
-
Inclusive – through an inclusive approach, all children flourish and achieve good outcomes, making at least expected progress.
-
Pupils as Leaders - Pupils are proactive, articulate and involved in the life of the school as agents for change. They are ready for the next stage of learning.
-
Wider Opportunities – Pupils access a wide range of clubs and opportunities, developing talents and skills beyond the classroom.
Celebrating Success – Recognising and celebrating achievements, nominating peers and championing all, enabling all children to flourish.
